Printing Blankets

The blanket is the most critical consumable in offset printing — it transfers the inked image from the plate to the substrate, and its condition directly determines dot reproduction, print density, and overall print quality. MPS stocks compressible and conventional blankets for sheetfed and web presses, including both new inventory and certified surplus blankets at significant savings.

Compressible vs. Conventional Blankets

Compressible blankets are the standard for most modern sheetfed offset presses. Their multi-layer construction absorbs impression pressure and self-recovers from piling and minor smashes, making them far more forgiving than conventional blankets in everyday pressroom conditions. Conventional blankets are still used in certain web applications where controlled ink transfer characteristics are needed. We carry both types and can help you match the right blanket to your press and application.

Coating Blankets

Coating blankets are used in the varnish or aqueous coating unit of a press — they’re a different product from printing blankets, with a smoother surface designed to apply an even film of coating rather than transfer halftone dots. Running out of coating blankets shouldn’t halt a job; we keep them in stock alongside our printing blanket inventory.

Surplus Blankets

We carry G7-certified surplus blankets that have been verified to meet print quality standards. Surplus inventory allows shops to keep more spares on hand without the cost of new product — an important hedge when a smash or emergency changeover is a matter of minutes, not days. Check our shop for current availability and sizes.
