Coatings for Offset Presses
Coating applied inline — aqueous, UV, or specialty — protects the printed sheet, enhances appearance, and allows for faster delivery without the scuffing and marking that bare ink is susceptible to. MPS supplies aqueous coatings, UV coatings, and coating blankets for in-line and off-line coating units on sheetfed presses.
Aqueous Coatings
Aqueous coatings are water-based, dry quickly, and are the workhorse choice for most commercial sheetfed applications — from soft gloss and matte finishes to the high-gloss flood coats used on packaging and marketing materials. They’re compatible with all standard sheetfed presses and coating towers. We stock aqueous coatings in both gloss and matte formulations.
UV Coatings
UV coatings cure instantly under ultraviolet light and produce a higher-build, harder finish than aqueous alternatives. They’re preferred for jobs that need extreme gloss, superior scuff resistance, or specific tactile finishes. UV coatings require a UV curing unit on the press, and chemistry compatibility matters — we can help you spec the right coating for your press and ink system.
Specialty Finishes
Beyond standard gloss and matte, specialty coatings include soft-touch, satin, drip-off, and strike-through formulations for creative and premium applications. These are increasingly requested by packaging and commercial print clients, and we can source specific formulations to match your production requirements.
Coating Blankets
The coating blanket is a consumable in any inline coating system, and it wears independently of your printing blankets. We keep coating blankets in stock so a worn coating blanket doesn’t hold up a job.
